By “Aς φέρουμε πίσω την ελπίδα” – Aνακοινώνει την κυβέρνησή του ο Andy Burnham
Ανέλαβε πρωθυπουργός της Βρετανίας ο Andy Burnham και πήρε εντολή σχηματισμού κυβέρνησης από τον βασιλιά Κάρολο τη Δευτέρα το πρωί (20.07), αφού προηγουμένως παραιτήθηκε και τυπικά ο Keir Starmer. Tην περασμένη Παρασκευή αναδείχθηκε νέος αρχηγός των Εργατικών, μόνος υποψήφιος με ευρύτερη πλειοψηφία.
H πρώτη του ομιλία από τη Downing Street χωρίς podium και σημειώσεις:
“Οι πολιτικοί της γενιάς μου δεν ήμασταν αρκετά καλοί (good enough) – χρειάζεται να προσπαθήσουμε πιο πολύ να κάνουμε την πολιτική να λειτουργεί καλύτερα, να ανταποκριθούμε στην πρόκληση. Και να δείξουμε στον κόσμο ότι ανακτούμε σαν χώρα τη σταθερότητα.
Θα προωθήσουμε τις σημαντικότερες αλλαγές των τελευταίων 40 ετών: ένα καινούριο πολιτικό και οικονομικό μοντέλο.
Τη δεκαετία του 1980 ακολουθήσαμε λάθος δρόμους – η πολιτική δύναμη ήταν συγκεντρωποιημένη (centralised) και η οικονομική ιδιωτικοποιήθηκε. Μεγάλα κομμάτια της χώρας γνώρισαν την αποβιομηχάνιση (deindustrialised) και ακόμη δεν έχουν ανακάμψει, αισθάνονται σε παρακμή, μη μπορώντας να αναστρέψουν τα πράγματα.
Συνεργατικά θα λύνουμε τα προβλήματα. Θα μεταφέρουμε την εξουσία από εδώ, τη Downing Street σε κάθε ταχυδρομικό κώδικα τoυ τόπου μας. Θα χτίσουμε μια νέα οικονομία, στην οποία τα βασικά αγαθά για τη ζωή θα περάσουν υπό μεγαλύτερο δημόσιο έλεγχο ώστε να είναι πιο προσιτά (affordable) για εσάς.
Ως κράτος θα στηρίξουμε (public procurement) την επαναβιομηχανοποίηση/επαναβιομηχάνιση (reindustrialisation), τη βρετανική βιομηχανία (british industry).
Aργότερα μέσα στη χρονιά, θα παρουσιάσω ένα δεκαετές πλάνο για το πού πιστεύω ότι όλοι θέλουμε να φτάσει η Βρετανία, όποια κι αν είναι η αφετηρία μας, ανεξαρτήτως κόμματος.
Αλλά μπορώ να κάνω κάτι για να βοηθήσω τους πολίτες να αναπνεύσουν από το βάρος του κόστους ζωής τώρα, για να ξεκινήσουν αυτά τα μέτρα από αύριο, και με ποιούς πόρους.
Θα βοηθήσουμε περισσότερους νέους να βρίσκουν δουλειά, αλλάζοντας το εκπαιδευτικό σύστημα, παρέχοντάς τους ψυχολογική υποστήριξη.
Θα οικοδομήσουμε πιο πολλές κοινωνικές κατοικίες – η πρώτη μου οδηγία θα είναι να σταματήσουν άνθρωποι να κοιμούνται στον δρόμο.
Αυτός είναι ο δίκαιος και βιώσιμος τρόπος για να διατηρείται το κοινωνικό κράτος εντός των δημοσιονομικών κανόνων (fiscal rules) και ενώ θα τηρούνται οι δεσμεύσεις μας στην άμυνα απέναντι στους διεθνείς μας εταίρους.
Θα επενδύσουμε στην επιτυχία των ανθρώπων, αντί να πληρώνουμε την αποτυχία, ενεργώντας προληπτικά ως κράτος (preventative state). Αυτή η δουλειά ξεκινά τώρα.
Έχει να κάνει με το να βάλουμε τις σωστές αξίες στην καρδιά της κυβέρνησης. Θα τοποθετήσω τη φροντίδα των ανθρώπων στην καρδιά όσων κάνω με όλες μου τις δυνάμεις. Και σας ζητώ να χτίσουμε μαζί μια καινούρια εθνική έννοια ενότητας, κοινού σκοπού (common purpose), θετικότητας (positivity). Aς κάνουμε αυτή, τη στιγμή που η Βρετανία θα αρχίσει να πιστεύει ξανά, που θα φέρουμε πίσω την ελπίδα.”
Ξεκίνησε με επίσκεψη στη φιλανθρωπική οργάνωση The Passage για άστεγους και ευάλωτες ομάδες.
